I spend quite a lot of time on Vinted. I buy there regularly, I sell there too, and over time I’ve learnt that what you type into the search bar makes a huge difference to what you find.

I rarely just browse “women’s clothing” anymore. I search for specific fabrics, pieces, brands and details that I know work with my wardrobe.

My searches change too. If you’d looked a few months ago, you probably would have seen far more blazers, cardigans and jumpers. I’ve found quite a few good ones already, so I’m trying to behave myself now 😀

Here are 12 things I regularly search for on Vinted — including some of my recent searches and finds.

1. Wool

Wool is one of the first things I search for, particularly as we move into autumn.

I’ve become much more interested in fabric composition over the years, and now the material label is one of the first things I check.

One of my favourite Vinted finds is an H&M Premium jumper I bought for around €6 that is 85% wool. I also bought the black blazer I’m wearing in the photo here on Vinted last year – 100% wool for 8 eur.

2. Mohair and Alpaca

You’ll see mohair alpaca and mohair wool alpaca jumper in my recent searches.

These are the kinds of fabrics that can be expensive new, so I particularly like looking for them second-hand. I’ll often add a maximum price too, which helps narrow down hundreds of results.

3. Cotton

My latest Vinted purchase arrived today: a khaki coat for €11 with 70% cotton.

It’s exactly the kind of find I look for — simple, practical and easy to wear with clothes I already own.

It also supports the way I’ve been trying to shop generally: fewer pieces, but better ones. That’s a big part of my approach in How to Build a Timeless Capsule Wardrobe.

For me, that’s far more exciting than buying something just because it’s cheap.

4. Linen

Linen is another regular search, especially during spring and summer.

I look for linen blazers, shirts, trousers and dresses, and I’ll often combine the fabric with a colour or specific item to make the results more relevant.

Searching by material rather than only by brand has probably been one of my best Vinted discoveries.

5. Blazers

You won’t see many blazers in my current search history because I already have enough!

But they’ve been one of my most frequent searches over the years. I wear blazers for work, with jeans and over simple dresses, so they’re something I know I’ll genuinely use.

My black Vinted blazer is a good example — I bought it last year and I’m still wearing it.

6. Cardigans and Jumpers

The same goes for cardigans and jumpers. I have bought quite a few already, so I’m deliberately searching for them less now.

When I do look, I’ll usually search for something specific, like a wool cardigan rather than simply a cardigan. A color, material, or favorite brand can make the results much better. But here is a picture of my Marcs&Sencers wool cardigan, which I adore.

7. Real Leather Belts

One of my actual recent searches is real leather belt women.

I love what a belt can do to an outfit, particularly because I wear quite simple clothes. I’d rather find one good leather belt that I’ll keep than continually replace cheaper ones.

Again, I check the material details before buying.

8. Bags

Bags are slightly dangerous territory for me at the moment 😀

I recently ordered a black Love Moschino bag for €37. I loved the metallic chain, gold-tone details and extra pocket, and I could immediately imagine wearing it with lots of my existing clothes.

With more expensive brands, though, I’m careful. There are fakes on resale platforms, so I inspect the photographs closely and ask for additional pictures if I’m unsure. I also want to see inside the bag — both to understand how practical it is and because the interior details can give you more information about what you’re buying.

MY VINTED FIND: €37 Love Moschino Bag

This one also involved a little bargaining.

The bag was coming from Poland and postage was quite high, so instead of simply sending a much lower offer, I messaged the seller. I explained that I loved the bag but delivery was adding quite a lot to the overall cost, and we eventually agreed on around 10% off.

As someone who also sells on Vinted, I think communication matters. If somebody randomly offers 20% less, the seller may decline — and honestly, I understand why.

9. Statement Necklaces

Another recent search is oversize necklace.

I currently have a beautiful COS necklace favourited for €13. I love the layered gold-tone design and all the detail — it looks like the kind of accessory that could make a simple black outfit much more interesting.

I’m considering messaging the seller and offering €10. We’ll see!

This is also a reminder that sometimes I don’t need another outfit. One interesting necklace, belt or bag can make clothes I already own feel completely different.

10. Specific Brands

Sometimes I’ll search for a particular brand because I already know its quality, sizing or style.

But I don’t rely on brands alone. I often combine the name with a fabric, colour or specific item I’m looking for.

That stops Vinted becoming an endless scroll and makes it much easier to spot something genuinely useful.

11. Vintage Sets

One of my current searches is vintage women sets, and I’ve already found something I’m slightly obsessed with.

It’s a vintage Olsen blazer-and-skirt set for €15. I love the print and especially the longer blazer. I can already picture the whole thing with knee-high heeled boots.

But I haven’t bought it.

I’ve messaged the seller because the material composition isn’t clear. If there’s a good amount of wool or cotton in the blend, I’m buying it — no question.

It’s a good example of something Vinted has taught me: even when I love an item, I try to pause and check the details before buying.

12. Whatever My Wardrobe Actually Needs

This might be the most important one.

I try not to let Vinted convince me that I “need” something simply because it’s cheap.

If I know I need a belt, I’ll search for a belt. If I want a particular coat, I’ll search for that coat. If my wardrobe already has five good cardigans, I don’t need to keep searching for cardigans.
